A fascinating journey out to sea
From June to December, humpback whales migrate along the coast of the Eastern Cape. With a bit of luck, you can watch these enormous marine mammals leap out of the water or majestically raise their tail flukes from the sea – an unforgettable experience.

The coast in front of Port Elizabeth (Gqerberha) is part of the bay known as Algoa Bay,

It is one of the best places in South Africa to experience marine mammals in their natural habitat.

From June to November, southern right whales migrate along the coast to feed in

to calve in the protected bays of the Eastern Cape – a time when sightings directly

are particularly impressive from a boat.

Dolphins are also native to Algoa Bay throughout the year, often seen in large,

playful groups appear and curiously accompany boats.

If you're lucky, you might even spot humpback whales passing by on their migration along the South African coast.

A boat trip from Port Elizabeth usually lasts a few hours and can easily be integrated into a half-day excursion –

Ideal for combining your stay at Keiskama B&B with another nature experience, without a long journey.
